T: Andrew and I just got back from our weekend at the beach.  We made it back mostly safe and sound and we made it both ways on the high speed ferry without getting seasick (although the woman sitting next to me wasn’t so lucky).
I decided that I would devote this post to the 10 things to pack on a weekend trip to the beach:
The photo above includes:
1. Dark jeans—no matter what always bring jeans, you will need them
2. Nantucket red shorts—somehow this did not make me the preppiest guy on the ferry
3. White V-neck t-shirt for wearing to the beach
4. Blue and white striped swim suit
5. Grey V-neck t-shirt for wearing around the house and wherever else
6. Black J-Crew hoodie for cool evenings and the windy ferry
7. Sperry Top-Siders—A must for the beach
8. Land’s End Huge Towel—Don’t be that guy who has a stolen hotel towel to use at the beach.
9. Brooks Brothers white oxford—for wearing out and about
Not Pictured: Clark’s Desert Boots (they were on my feet), socks and underwear, my sunglasses that were lost in the Martha’s Vineyard surf, the terrible sunburn I got, and the Steve Alan button-down that I forgot to bring.

T: Andrew and I are headed to the beach this weekend.  We are huge proponents on keeping it simple—particularly at the beach.  Both of us here are sporting khaki shorts, canvas shoes, dark sunglasses, and a solid cotton shirt.
Hopefully we don’t throw up on the ferry over to our destination.  Check back on Monday to find out!

T: For those of you wondering how to dress for the beach this holiday weekend—Orlando Bloom has got things on lock.  The trunks fit perfectly just above the knee, the shirt is on point, and the sunglasses look fresh to death.
Have a great holiday weekend and we will see you after the break.
Hooray for America!

T: If you plan on going to the beach this summer, you will need a towel.  If you arrive at the beach with a little white towel you stole at a hotel, you will not be able to dry off completely and you may or may not look like an idiot.
GQ has been pimping this towel for a couple of years now and its the real deal.  Unsurprisingly, it comes from one of my favorite sources for things that are functional, cheap, and sturdy—Land’s End.  Come on folks, it’s 15 dollars.  If you live in Manhattan, that’s the cost of a gin and tonic at a bar this summer.
My sister got me the navy/royal blue striped joint last year.  It also comes with free monogramming so no one will try to sneak off with your enormous and brightly colored beach towel while you are swimming (unlikely even without monogramming).
It’s also good for naps on the beach which is a favorite past time of mine.

T: This video shows you how the iconic L.L. Bean Tote Bag is made.  This bag is perfect for the beach or for just carrying stuff to the park/errands in the summer.  Personally, I have fond memories of my mom using this bag to take our towels, her books, and sunblock to the pool every day after summer camp.  Occasionally, the bag also held juice boxes and goldfish.  SWEET!

L.L. Bean still makes all their stuff in the US and A and they have some pretty sweet videos on youtube on how the stuff is made.  If you want to build your street cred in Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard, Mount Desert Island, The Cape, The Hamptons, Kennebunkport, or Hyannis this summer, cop this bag (with monogram of course).
