Essential T-Shirts
T: Inspired by the guys at Style Hunting, we have decided to write another installment in our essentials series. There are many great t-shirts out there and I’m sure that everyone reading this has about three times more t-shirts than they could possibly wear. Personally, I have two drawers full of free t-shirts that I got from various soccer, basketball, and rugby teams. But, I never wear these t-shirts outside of the gym.
The idea of this post is if your house burned down and you got to build your wardrobe all over again, these are the 3 shirts you should buy.
1. V-neck:
I own a grey v-neck from Urban Outfitters but I think that my next t-shirt purchase will be a v-neck from American Apparel. I like the deep V of the shirt and it comes in some sweet colors (I’m not embarrassed to admit that I like the purple one). A V-neck is great because it makes you look a little longer by exposing your neck. Also, the deep-V is a little spicier than a regular crew neck.

2. Crew neck (white)
There are some people that wear nothing but plain white t-shirts every day. Every guy looks good in a simple, well fitting crew neck (espicially the young Marlon Brando). White crew necks can also double as an undershirt if you are into things like that. In terms of brands, you can’t go wrong with Hanes but if you want to up your game, I think that the best option is from Calvin Klein.

3. Graphic T:
Be careful here folks. Graphic t-shirts should not be “funny” because a man expresses his opinions with his words, not with his shirt. Secondly, the graphic on your shirt should not take up more than half of the total surface area nor should it have anything on it that could be turned into a tattoo (see Hardy, Ed). For an example of what not to wear, see below (note the totally huge forearms bro—GTL every day son!):

If you want to find a great graphic t-shirt, you could scour thrift shops high and low looking for a piece of vintage clothing (this is how I found my favorite graphic t-shirt) with a cool graphic. Or, if you want to save a ton of time, go with a vintage looking print from made-in-America brand CXXVI.
Does anyone think we missed something? Let us know.
